First Heritage Mural Celebrates Rivers Ukrainian Heritage
On Sept 20 2024 the Rivers Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Society celebrated a completed mural on the Zion Church wall. The RTSR committee secured a Manitoba Arts grant in 2022 to create two heritage murals as part of the downtown Streetscaping program. The mural captures Ukrainian history from the 1930 Ukrainian Hall era through community life, with imagery of dancers, sunflowers, eggs, Ukrainian symbols, and a muralist team Mary and Erica Lowe.
