Sunflower Farm North of Rivers Grows Edible and Bird Seed Crops
Providence Farms owned by the Krahn family grows two sunflower varieties on about 100 acres for edibles and 200 acres for bird seed with plans for oil. Sunflower heads face east as they mature. harvest occurs in late October with combines stripping heads. The Krahn family lives in three homes along Hwy 250 1.5 miles north of Rivers and maintain a close, secure, family-led operation with six grandchildren.
