Choosing a Canola Variety for 1995 Plantings
Seed Manitoba 1995 Variety Recommendations and Grower Directory, due in the December 1 Manitoba Co-operator, lists about 40 canola varieties including 15 new Argentine lines. Experts say select by yield, lodging, height, disease and pest resistance, especially blackleg, and consider planting 3 to 5 varieties if large acreage. Early booking advised as seed supplies are expected to meet demand.
