Branded Nutcracker Returns to Brandon With Moscow Ballet Pairings
The Moscow Ballet returns for two Brandon performances November 22 and 23 featuring local dancers from Razzamatazz Dance Club in the Snow Maiden and Snowflake roles. Dance Images coordinates the Dance With Us program, pairing Manitoba Saskatchewan youths with international professionals under director Linda Kearns. Auditions in September drew 51 students ages seven to 17, with thirteen year old MaKenna Scott and Emma Roulette named snow maidens and seven-year-old Kaydance Fontaine as a snowflake. Nalyvaiko, Moscow’s audition director, and Tamara Hicks guided rehearsals in Brandon before the troupe returned to Russia. Local instructor Charlene Hiscock calls the program a valuable taste of professional life for young dancers.
