Ukrainian society funds donated to Rivers museum effort

Rivers Ukrainian Society disbanded after 81 years, transferring remaining 43 000 dollars to Rivers Train Station Restoration Committee. In a March 2010 interview President Peter Citulsky explained the fund’s purpose to support a museum preserving Ukrainian heritage at the federally designated national heritage train station.

CN Hostel Bunkhouse Refurbished in Rivers for Train Crew

The CN hostel in Rivers, nicknamed The Bunkhouse, is a 30-room facility on CN property used by train crews around the clock at no charge. Lead hand Linda Humphrey of Brandon has worked there 25 years and recalls updates in 1997 and 2005. Interior refresh included repainting, new carpet, furniture, bedspreads and drapes. a patio foundation is underway, slated for completion next spring.
