How Old Are Our Trees in Rivers
Sheila Stapko relates a riverside history note from Charles Stalker of White Rock B C about the planned beautification in the 1950s by the Chamber of Commerce Kiwanis and Town of Rivers. Dr Skinner advised tree types suited to local soil planted on boulevards at no cost to residents. Residents cared for saplings and today the trees evoke local pride and memories of community effort.
