Kenton Fire Destroys Block as Emergency Responders Rally
On Sunday at 5 a.m. a blaze razed a full city block in Kenton, forcing five residents from their homes and causing one heart attack. The origin is unknown and the town lost its barbershop pool room and cafe in the fire. A local municipal doctor plan was approved in a Friday vote, with Rivers and Daly sharing duties. Rural votes favored the plan 159 to 91, Rivers 174 to 58 in support. Notable notices include births in late October, a November 2 wedding, and retirements at Setter's Drug Store with consolidation plans after Maurice Setter sold the business to Jack Gilchrist. 45 years ago, in 1972, Daly Ward 5 voters chose John Beever 64 to 54 over Barry Madden.
