Canadian beef exports climbed in Q1 2024 with total shipments of 136 842 tonnes up nine percent from a year earlier and 23 percent above the five year average. Exports to the United States reached 102 000 tonnes, an 11 percent gain, while imports rose 15 percent to 47 300 tonnes.
Canada total field crop stocks as of March 31, 2024 show declines for wheat eight oats and corn and soybeans with canola and barley up. Wheat down 15.4 to 11.8 million tonnes. Canola up 17.5 to 8.3 million tonnes driven by on farm and commercial gains. Barley up 10.5 to 3.1 million tonnes amid reduced domestic use and lower exports. Oats and len til stocks also fell sharply.
