Roadwatch Traffic Check Targets Impaired Drivers
Sergeant Leon Flannigan helped launch Roadwatch with MPI sponsorship after studies showed rising drink driving offences. On May 18 Rivers police and RCMP joined Brandon and Winnipeg officers in a cross jurisdiction check at Brunswick Street and Highway 25, inspecting seatbelts licences registrations and cell phones. Semi trucks faced mechanical checks for brakes weights dimensions and bridge clearance. The joint effort mirrors the police motto Any time any place no time no date.
