Royal Bank pledge to rural Canada amid merger talks
Ernie Kempthorne, Area Manager Brandon, responds to council and reader concerns over Royal Bank and Bank of Montreal merger. He cites 63 percent of branches in rural areas across Manitoba and nearby regions, notes closures due to competition, and describes investments in telephone and PC banking plus mobile bankers to serve small towns. He asserts no loss of rural branch service from merger and highlights benefits of scale to keep and open branches locally.
