Thorn-free rose varieties for safe gardening
Breeders have developed roses with few or no thorns, easing care for elderly gardeners and households with children or pets. Smooth Touch roses from California in the 1960s by Harvey Davidson claim 95 to 100 percent thornlessness, with examples such as Ballerina Moonlight and Snowflake. The Zephirine Drouhin climber and several multiflora rambler cultivars also feature thorn-free canes, including Ghislaine de Feligonde Veilchen blau Goldfinch Ice Tea.
