Friends of Rivers Lake to shift from labor group to lobby focus
Sheila Szapko reports on February 28 meeting where ten members discussed reviving interest in the Friends of Rivers Lake. The group founded in 1990 with 183 members now has six, and plans a April 26 meeting to elect speakers and discuss gate and spillway controls and a finer screen for the gate to protect fish.

Oak River WI collects books for Children’s Hospital Book Mart
Oak River Wisconsin members of the Women’s Institute collected four boxes of children’s books for the annual Children’s Hospital Book Mart. The group notes last year’s fundraising reached a record 186492 dollars for the Children’s Hospital Research Foundation. The Institute marks WI Day on February 19 and its charter anniversary this month.
