Community session outlines needs for Rivers growth
In Rivers on June 11, Lindsay Smith hosted What this Community Needs with Wheatbelt Community Futures representative Al Gordon. 130 invitations yielded 28 attendees including the Rivers mayor, two councillors and the administrator. Gordon described Wheatbelt as a federal program aiding in business plans and loans, noting over 6 million dollars lent since 1987 with 42 percent outside Brandon. Five breakout groups generated 129 ideas, with further sessions to refine tasks and assign responsibility before finalizing the community project plan.
