Legion Donates War Memorial Book to Prairie Crocus Library

Rivers Legion donated two copies of A Place of Honour Manitoba's War Dead Com memorated in its Geography to Prairie Crocus Regional Library. Presenting librarian Dora Irving, Legion president Ron Radford thanked staff for the Geography Names program. The book honors over 4,000 Manitoba World War II casualties and includes photographs and place names. Premier Gary Doer provided a preface.

Decoration Day at Rivers Cemetery Honors Fallen Veterans

On Sunday June 15 Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 75 Rivers organized its Decoration Day with Rivers Guide members assisting. Veterans’ graves received crosses and poppies from Remembrance O Day purchases. A brief service featured a colour march, O Canada, God Save the Queen, the last post and prayers.

Walking Etiquette By Coast Rivers Police

Rivers police urge summer walkers to use sidewalks when available and face traffic if no sidewalk exists. Wear reflective clothing at night and ride bicycles single file with traffic. Spotters may reward students who follow these rules for a safe summer vacation.
