The Rivers & Area Lions Club celebrates its 50th anniversary after forming on April 24 1975 at Rivers Canadian Forces Base. Since then 51 founders with Virden Lions Club sponsorship built a community program through schools, seniors, youth sports, hospital and fire department support, fundraising events like Pancake Supper, Pickerel Fry, Beef Suppers and BBQs, and new facilities such as bleachers and a gazebo at Rivers Kids Park.
