At the May 26 Rivers Train Station Restoration Committee meeting chair Donna Morken reminded 10 members to return unsold Via Rail tickets by June 7. The tickets cover an expense-free trip to Vancouver or Toronto.
The Rivers and Area Lions Club will host a barbecue from 11 30 a m to 1 30 p m on the day of the ticket draw Thursday June 11 at 2 p m at Westoba Credit Union to raise funds for station restoration. A letter of appreciation will be sent to Brandon University business education students for rail car ideas and to the Kamula family for memorial donations in Nick Kamula’s memory. A roster for watering station flowers was set, flowers planted by Dorothy Beedie and Beth Schafer. Benches from railway wheels will line Aspen Trail and a boxcar and caboose repaint at Millennium Park was discussed with paint availability. The next Riverdale Municipality meeting is June 30 in the council chamber.
The Rapid City 4-H Beef Club held an April 14 meeting with Sierra Inglis leading the 4-H pledge. Brooklyn Hedley reported on weigh day and crash day plans. Thujs Van De Langemheen shared Royal Manitoba Winter Fair calf scramble notes. May 12 brought pledge by Gavin Reid and a second place in crash day jackpot for Brooklyn Hedley with her heifer Sadie. Members planned rodeo canteen duties for May 23 24 and June 9 record books due at the library basement.
