Local man Hall Sveistrup awarded Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal

Hall Sveistrup of Rivers was among 16 recipients at a Dec ceremony in BranSeVseer where MP Merv Tweed praised community service. Sveistrup, former Rivers Elementary principal and long-time volunteer, expressed gratitude to family and supporters. The event included certificates and a governor general letter.

Mary McBurney Celebrates 100th Birthday in Rivers

Mary McBurney of Rivers turned 100 on December 18 2012. Mayor Todd Gill delivered congratulations at her home and officials sent certificates from multiple politicians including Queen Elizabeth. A party at Rivers United Church featured pink decor memories photos and tributes to her long community service with WSO youth choir and local groups.
