Prairie pothole region seen as North Americas duck factory
On Alan Homer's farm south of Minnedosa a patchwork of potholes and grass defines a key natural habitat. The prairie pothole region hosts many small wetlands with about 250 potholes on 25 quarter sections. Conservation districts and programs like the Riparian Stewardship Program supported by MHHC and DU assist farmers in habitat management.
