Comets fall to Cardinals in league finals opening trio
Rivers Comets dropped games in a three game set with the Canadian Tire Cardinals as Shaw allowed nine runs over six innings in game 3 while Ian Barr and Justin Froese each contributed multi hit days. The setback leaves the series 2 1 with Game 4 to be played. Off the field the team hosted its second annual fundraising softball tournament at Rivers fair grounds Aug 21 22 with 10 teams entering and raising $800 for the club. Bearded bid fundraiser saw Alastair McFadden shave to raise funds with Todd Gill contributing $500 for the cause.
