Winter storm cripples Manitoba power outages persist
Environment Canada warned of a winter storm in Southern Manitoba from Saturday night into Sunday with freezing rain and 80 km h winds. By Sunday afternoon over 1 000 outages affected about 15 000 customers, especially in Riverdale Elton and nearby municipalities. Ice and wind caused lines and poles to fail and crews faced dangerous driving conditions as restoration stretched into late April 28 in Dauphin and surrounding towns.
