Lake Wahtopanah Dam and Cairn Unveiling Near Rivers
The 1961 Rivers front page describes a man made reservoir named Lake Wahtopanah created by a Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration dam begun 1958 and completed in 1960. The earth filled dam spans 4000 feet, with a 72 foot height and a six mile long reservoir. A cairn on the north dam end, built by Nowe and Mills, was unveiled July 15 1961 by Hon. Douglas Harkness in a ceremony with about five thousand spectators. The plaque from the cairn face is missing and query is raised.
