Sound of Revelry at Queen Victoria Cottage Hospital Ball

A grand Opera House event last night raised funds for Queen Victoria Cottage Hospital. The First Hospital Ball featured extensive artistic decorations and music, drawing many visitors from Field and beyond despite disruptions from a Big Mill blockade. Volunteers labored daily to perfect the decor, with notable crowd entries and a lively program led by Supt quick and Mrs Carsithes.

Masonic Ball at Golden Town Hosts Over Sixty Couples

A Golden Masonic Ball drew a large crowd with a hollow centre formed for ceremonial reception of Bro. GS Stevens, deputy grand master, as guests from Revelstoke and local members enjoyed a well hosted evening. Wells J S Gibb and R Plowright funded supper. The event, praised by visitors and townspeople, marked a successful Friday gathering.

Revelstoke Ball Praised For Leading Orchestra and Fostered Community Support

Letters of regret arrived from Hon. W. G. Wells and others as the Revelstoke ball drew praise for its music under conductor Jas Taylor and the warm turnout of many guests including Bea McCarter Mrs. G. Risteen and numerous locals. The Mountain Lodge hosts received compliments for a well run event and a successful evening in Gulden.

Engineer Fatally Injured In Tragedy At Attica Mill

An elderly engineer of the Wabash mill, Sible, died after a locomotive mishap near Attica. The throttle misfired amid a 40 mile per hour run, a rescue brake was applied, but Sible sustained fatal skull and rib injuries. Fireman Jip survived with nonfatal injuries, while an investigation found no signal obstruction on the track.

Relic of Early Days in Western Rail Service

A CP RailwayExpress car, the oldest freight car on the western division, endures in the hearts of line workers. Built before Vanover’s era, designed when Onderdonk led Yale offices, it served between Port Moody and Savonas Landing near Kamloops. Once the express and pay car, it bore CP railway lettering and was managed by May Steve Tingley of Ashcroft overseeing express business for the west province.
