An opinion piece argues for direct government loans to Graham Island settlers to spur farm development, noting virtually no agricultural progress and urging immediate cash capital. It reports O. W. Hughes's record arrest campaign at Naden Harbor with multiple Chinamen fined or jailed for liquor supply and Indian intoxication incidents.
The Quadra steamer will leave Langara Island with two assistants to light keeper duties and will reach Massett to finish a second range light building. Chief Harry Weah will oversee lights on the Reserve. A Massett fire prompted appreciation dinner for rescuers.
Indian Land Commissioners arrive at Massett Reserve aboard the Queen City after traveling from Naden Harbor. The band plans a Town Hall banquet and an address of welcome as residents meet the visitors. Commissioners will visit Skidegate Reserve next week and delay other North visits until next year.
Local residents received wedding invitations for Government Agent E M Sandilands and Miss Malinda Sutherland, sister of Mrs O P Merrill. The ceremony is scheduled for September 15 at St Pauls Church in Vancouver.
