Dominion Day Committees Formed in Massett for July 1

A Massett School House meeting chaired by J. M. Campbell appointed committees for the Dominion Day celebration on July 1. Entertainment and Sports include Richards through Deasy. Finance chaired by Martin with Ives and others. Charles Harrison named ex officio chair of all committees and A. E. Jessup as general secretary to coordinate attendance from outside points.

Attractions For Prince Rupert Fair

The Northern British Columbia Agricultural and Industrial Association prepares for the Prince Rupert Exhibition on September 30 to October 2. Plans include a 200 by 100 foot building with 10 000 square feet of floor space plus balconies, aeronautical displays, Bruland’s self built model aircraft, a Dorothy De Venda parachute act, tug of war with cash prizes, Boyd Ogle Circus with 150 animals, rifle and trap shooting, Indian bands, and expanded prize lists. Nineteen new members join. annual membership is one dollar with a badge mailed upon receipt.

Proposed Excursion to Massett for Prince Rupert

During General-agent A. Davidson's visit from the G T P Company a Massett excursion was suggested from Prince Rupert. The idea, favorably received, asks to shift arrival to July 2 with reduced rates and time to enjoy local sports and scenery including the Haidas reserve and Inlet. A band in uniform could enhance the welcome.

Empress Of Ireland Sinks After Collision Off Newfoundland

News from the Pacific coast reports the s s Empress of Ireland sinking off Newfoundland following a collision with a collier. The vessel went down in about 20 minutes with roughly 1000 lives lost. The collier rescued around 40 survivors.
