MP H S Clements plans a northern tour of his vast constituency in the Dominion to inspect outlying areas. Earlier visits influenced estimates passed in the recent session, including funding for Massett, Sandspit, Queenstown, Lockeport wharfs, Wooden River landing, and a Telegraph line from Dead Tree Point to Massett.
Rev. George Wilson of Vancouver, Superintendent of Presbyterian Missions in B C, is likely to visit Queen Charlotte and nearby areas this week. Services are planned at Barge Hall with Sunday school at 10 30 a m and afternoon service at 3 p m Skidegate to host an evening service at 7 30 p m.
The fishing trawler Imbricaria from South Africa, sailing under Capt. Robinson with a fourteen man crew, arrived in Vancouver after a long two ocean voyage at about seven knots. After overhaul it will fish out of Vancouver for B C Fisheries Ltd.
Captain C H Nicholson reports the Prince Albert will not return to the Vancouver to Queen Charlotte service until July. The steamer is in Esquimalt drydock for repairs after examination showed twenty plates must be renewed and damage is worse than expected.
Miss Miller leaves today for England signaling her resignation from Queen Charlotte school. The Queen Charlotte school ends for summer with a program of readings and recitations.
The British Pacific Coal Co. is accused of defrauding investors in a wildcat coal mine and failing to pay bills. The piece questions where the subscribed funds went and urges prosecution of such outfits for public fleecing.
Spring salmon are running on the west coast near the Skidegate inlet entrance. Local Indians have reported several good catches over the past week. If the fishery remains plentiful here, Queen Charlotte could gain a much needed economic lift.
On the s s Prince John the crew for the four oared championship of the Queen Charlotte Islands and Prince Rupert is named. Chief Officer McKenzie will be stroke with Capt Wearmouth as 2nd oar and First Officer McLean as 3rd oar. Second Officer McGuirk rows 4th with Chief Engineer Munro as coach.
