District News reports W Farrar bringing two black Kerry breed bulls named Joe and Jimny Gover nor from Richmond for Jersey crossbreeding. A local tradesman may copy the hat par. A farmer sends wrought iron plough shares to Sydney for repairs. Frosts and fogs persist as the river rose, then fell back toward normal levels.
At Byrne's Hotel on Saturday June 17 a meeting elected a five member committee to organise a social for Tas Donoghee who lost his arm in a gun accident. John Clarke secretaries treasurer W Whitaker Jermyn A McGuigan J H Byrne. Tickets 5 shillings double 3 shillings single. Dorekeeper Wm Davis ticket seller J Clarke. Caterers and musicians to be chosen later. Attendance expected to be large. 1905.
Local notes report that sheep owners near here plan a dog proof fence stretching about 22 miles across 70 000 acres to combat wild dogs. It will connect runs from McKeahnie to Pedon through Auroral Dick's Yards Brandy Flat Booths range with barb wire and 4 inch mesh netting. Costs per owner and construction method will be decided at the next meeting, with a future report promised.
At the monthly Town Band meeting Band Sister W J Ward was allotted a complimentary social for services as instructor. A July 1st event is planned, with hopes for a jumper house. Sunday sacred concerts are also being organized. Miss M Marsden, near departure from the lake, received a purse and address from Miss Powell for subscribers. Marsden plans to relocate to Sydney from Bungendore. Police court business was quiet. a mining warden case occupied brief attention. James Seymour applied to take possession of a claim at Bynong registered to John Shepherd, labor conditions questioned. Mr Moss of Sydney filed the registration and noted warden's stance.
On Saturday at Burbong Messrs Gallagher organized a fox drive but the expedition found no foxes. The kangaroo and hare bay proved the target with drivers J C Gallagher and Syd Gallagher praised for their efforts. Lunch at the homestead was provided by G Gallagher as scores listed including Unwin 15 and others. Local chatter suggests politics may have influenced fox numbers while fox hunting becomes fashionable in Queanbeyan.
