Contested testimony recaps Frank Cottam and Jack Coppin dispute over a shooting. Witnesses describe cartridge cases, a loaded gun, and alleged threats as Mrs Cottam sought help while Coppin and Frank clashed. Investigators uncover past cruelty claims and a fatal confrontation at Coppin residence.
Mrs Cottant testified the accused and the deceased had lived apart for years. The coroner found the accused guilty of wilful murder and committed for trial at Goulburn Circuit Court on April. The deceased left about £45 from the estate and a horse and cart, with no known will. The son failed to reach police the night of the shooting, and Gar Savage accompanied the witness to the coroner.
