Public notice records a loan proposal of sixteen hundred dollars backed by a school in Qu Appelle Northwest Territories. It states polling will occur at the School House in Qu Appelle on Saturday October 16 1886 with the chairman and trustees overseeing the election and includes a voter declaration oath by A J Wismer as chairman and others.
Notice from the Board of the School District No 34 in a western territory announces a debenture issue of four hundred dollars to fund district formation costs. The issue will pay eight percent interest and be repaid in equal annual instalments. Trustees William McCall and Andrew Elliott urge participation and warn no reward for voting.
A damaged notice announces a vote by the Board of Trustees of Thistle Protestant Public School District No 2 in the Northwest Territories on a debenture for four hundred fifty dollars for school aid. It lists signatories including Sam Asey as chairman and James Moon and William Maan as officials, dated September 1, 1886.
The report notes promising potato yields with fall plowing advancing rapidly. Threshing has not started in the district, but a small cereal yield is expected. Rev. W. Tee, managing director of the P. M. Colonization Co, has visited recently to assist new settlers and lands sales.
Farmers finish harvest and begin fall plowing. E A Partridge visited last week. James Taylor returned from the east with his sister just arrived from England. A town rumor and a wagon bolt misadventure are noted. A dance is planned at Coolee schoolhouse in spring. H L Roe’s boy rides the prairie on his broncho.
Correspondents express interest in open access to matters, and note Essa ahaives mapenstte for the op jones, as conveyed in the letters.
The Council chair states Dodds’ accusation of animus is unfounded. He explains Mr Ford’s letter explains why the telegram to build the mill was not acted on and asserts the council fulfilled its duty toward ratepayers.
Reports claim Hugh Sutherland secured a syndicate to float Hudson's Bay Company bonds and build 60 miles of track. A later letter states terms allow immediate work on part of the line, with full project still unsettled and dependent on further finance.
Rumors of hostile sections near Fort Duchesne Utah prompted caution but safety prevailed. The Canadian steam tug Harry Neelon seized at Buffalo reportedly escaped on Wednesday night amid the disturbance.
