Tenders are invited for cutting at the Wolpaley property on May 7, 1886. Bidders should submit proposals with required details to the town clerk by the specified deadline.
Printed tender forms for a Northwest district contract must be received by Wednesday. Each tender requires an accepted Canadian bank cheque equal to the tender value, forfeitable if the bidder declines a contract or fails to complete services. Cheques are returned if not accepted. The document notes a security bond of five hundred dollars and deposits of four hundred dollars and one hundred dollars for voting rights. It specifies the voting event to be at the residence of Alexander in a named range with private measures, linked to A. D. McDonald and Daniel Ball and William Harvey.
Voters in McLean on June 5 1886 consider borrowing five hundred dollars for ten years at six percent to fund a school house project estimated to cost about four hundred dollars for furnishing and site selection. Polls open 6 to 10 am with an oath of eligibility.
Notice records a herd law action dated May 2 1886 involving Towmslop 17 and 14 acres west of Sed P.M. and lists Adresham David Kraltosr as a party. The readable text cites land parcels, the herd law claim, and a formal date, with names partially legible.
The town of Qu'Appelle marked the Queen's Birthday with decorations and a large crowd from Regina Indian Head and surrounding counties. Lt. Governor Dewdney presented the Northwest medals after a royal salute by the Battery RO. A. and the day featured numerous races and military displays amid hot windy weather.
In Indian Head Mr W Dickson fractured his shoulder after a pony jumped a hurdle and fell at Bell farm. Mrs J A Kammerer suffered a fractured ankle when a bolt in the trap harness gave way during a drive nearby. Mr Kammerer carried his wife to town for aid while others summoned help. Mrs Kammerer is recovering. Mr R Insinger plans to move stock north to Beaver Hills soon.
A blaze destroyed The Mail office and adjacent printing area at Alexander and Cable, injuring Thomas Carroll and causing about 40 000 dollars in damages to The Mail with 60 000 dollars insured. Police suspect arson and will investigate origins. Mention of Canadian Parliament representation for the North West Territories appears in the later note.

A Northwest Council plan seeks free grants of 6 400 acres per mile for 240 miles of the Wood Mountain and Qu Appelle Railway from Wool Mountain to Shellmouth and to Battleford. Contracts plan to begin this year with 50 extra miles built annually until completion, linking with the Manitoba and Northwestern Railway and other lines.
