Fragmented 1761 letter page with moral exhortations
A long mixed text from London May 1761 includes a letter exchange praising virtue and economy, instructions on public decorum, a tale about Eliza and Beth Eyebright, and a proposal for rapid troop movement by mixing dragoons infantry and hussars, followed by advertisements on lace cleaning and volumes.
Mail from Flanders and ships to Honduras port
Yesterday arrived the Mail from Flanders. Marquis de Squillace has just arrived from Madrid. Two men of war have entered the port from Carthagena and will be followed by more ships to convoy four thousand land forces to the bay of Honduras. Pink ships arrived from the Levant report arms at Constantinople improving. Additional dispatches note Hanoverian regiments marching, Hussars and dragoons moving, Guar’s town near Dormand nearly ashes, and English forces at Belleisle repulsed after landing three divisions under Saint Croix.
