Attempted assault at sea ends in retreat and losses
A fragmented 1761 dispatch recounts Captain Barrington's flawed assault from ships and shore on a fortified position. Heavy fire, weather, and entrenched defenders forced a retreat to landing boats, with ships and armed boats sustaining damage. Officers are listed and reports note ongoing efforts to repair and renew the assault while expressing intent to pursue contingencies if feasible.

Port New Deal in April 29 Shipping Talk and Law of Nations
Fragmentary naval dispatches describe ships such as Biddeford and Arrogant sailing from Portsmouth to Sheerrah Poole’s Wharf, with mentions of the Grolier, the Mary, and the George. The text pivots to reflections on the Law of Nations versus Jus gentium, citing Romans and civili society, and questions about Britain-France tensions and wartime penalties.
