In a letter dated February 11, 1760 Jo L- v. argues a float device could be expelled from a boat to serve as a buoyant log guiding a person to safety. The float, he suggests, could carry a candle through darkness, enabling rescue and potential publication to spare families ruin and benefit the nation.
Portmouth reports his majesty's ship Vengeance arrived with trade under convoy from Plymouth. The Ashling Kellick arrived from Lisbon with wine and fruit. Wind WSW gale.
