A tale of love treachery and exile in Vienna
A nameless narrator recounts a once loyal couple, Philander and Lavinia, whose marriage is fractured by Philander's second love Cleora. Lavinia seeks him in Vienna, where she is targeted by Cleora’s hired assassins, but Philander rescues Lavinia and abandons Cleora. They reunite in England to live in harmony, while a second historical account chronicles the Mecklenburg lineage and royal marriages.
