Pacific Great Eastern to seek 12000 per mile subsidy

Dominion Parliament set to consider a subsidy of twelve thousand dollars per mile for the Pacific Great Eastern. The plan includes a six million provincial loan to complete the Clinton to Fort George section with security from a province wide mortgage and large stock stakes in PGE and its development company. Mrs D J Williams and Mr Williams arrived from the Rocher de Boule for a visit.

Engineer Mines In Atlin District Promising Deep Ore Values

Capt Alexander leading the Engineer Group reports in city with Mrs Alexander to oversee work at the Atlin property. They have sunk to 200 feet where ore shows first class values and depth improves the ore. The Engineer mines are a continuing feature of Atlin country with a stamp mill installed. Dr L L Cairns of Terrace has drawn attention to the quartz proposition. Halibut landings include Jupiter 17000 pounds and Alliance 10000. Agnes B 7000. other vessels report catches and sales by Canadian Fish & Cold Storage and Pacific Fisheries at varied prices.

Australia to Aid Expedition with Potash and Feldspar Supplies

Melbourne reports that Australia will help organize Shackleton's expedition by providing officers and twenty six men provisioned for eighteen months. Dr. Frank D. Adams notes potential Canadian potash deposits and vast silicate of potash and feldspar in northern Laurentian rocks awaiting extraction method.

Government to aid prospectors with 200000 mining fund

Victoria announces a special estimate of 200000 to assist prospectors this year. Hon. Lorne Campbell Minister of Mines will oversee the fund as part of a broader aid scheme for small miners. A government expert will assess properties and may provide half the cost for road and trail construction to export ore.

Witnesses Describe Macdonald Handing Money to Golden

Victoria May 16 Ralph Smith ex M P and Liberal candidate for Vancouver seat testified before the Vancouver Election Frauds Committee. He described meetings among Liberal candidates after accusations against J T Scott and noted money exchanges linked to Scott’s work. Fraser testified he overheard Macdonald say fifty dollars and future payment.
