Keen interest marked Pink day Town Council elections with five candidates dominated by Alfred Benjamin Prov and Mabel Mnanke. Tulloh warned he may retire after six years if not reelected. Dr Thomas praised as Mayor and voters urged his re election. Voting totals show 1249 formal votes and 16 informal votes.
Despite heavy rain the Lyndoch Star Theatre was well filled by a wide cross section of the community for a Warr variety show. The program featured Lyndoch Old Polka Band and a concert party with gongs, mandolins, guitar and news, plus a larger upcoming event promised. The Mayor thanked supporters for making the venue free of charge and noted donations to the Lyndoch Home appeal. Proceeds from the concert reached about 70 with several donations pledged.
Friday afternoon at the Portland State School a farewell event honored Miss Joyce Ridley before her departure for Warragul. Teachers gave a Biro pen, and Mike Ridley received two pictures from the children. The School Mothers’ Club planned a welcome at Warragul two months later and presented a rug.
A mixed recap lists Oddfellows table tennis results with players Fitts Funton Tosh Wilson and others, noting several 21 16, 21 8, 21 11 scores and team rubbers won. Footballers and surf club fixtures feature numerous 21s and 14s, including Quinlivan Cunneen McCombe Forfar results and Freezer surf matches with multiple 21s and 14s.
