The Crystal Brook exhibition drew about 5000 people for the town’s first 1938 show of factory farm garden and home products. Weather improved from last year with sunshine easing mud and rail travel adding to gate receipts around £180 plus rail proceeds.
A Georgetown area bookmaker says an armed hold up attempt occurred as his car was passing another vehicle. He claims a bullet was fired at his car in the incident.
Mr. Jim Prindiville, en route from Adelaide to Pirie with Edward Madigan, reports a blinding flash and a bullet strike on his windscreen as a rival car passes on the road between Yacka and Georgetown. Police seek the other vehicle. Prindiville stopped at Georgetown to report the incident.
Lord Huntingfield will be welcomed at the airport by the mayor W. H. Thresdgold and Pirie Town Council, with Mr. D. Yates and smelter representatives. He will tour the aerodrome staff house and be shown Seater during his visit.

Police conducted extensive inquiries under Sgt W V Virgo after bookmaker J P Prindiville reported a shot fired at his car on Main North road near Georgetown. The vehicle had not been located by late tonight despite tracing efforts.
In Blackpool the Australian batsmen were held in check by Ward and Barnett as they bowled with deadly accuracy. Australia posted ten for 109 at luncheon with Worthington and Amar Singh among the scorers, while Ward dominated the English bowlers taking seven wickets.
In Melbourne the Bankruptcy Court heard George Gordon Mill admit ledger errors in the account with Mia Mary McLeod. He owed £750 to her while the ledger showed £84 owed to him. Mill held £300 from Miss McLeod and £900 from her father for investment, £700 to mortgage on property bought by his brother. The mortgage was not registered and he could not trace the funds. He blamed overwork for not warning Miss McLeod about further mortgages and admitted no income tax returns since 1933. The hearing adjourned. Silverton Tramway line and Nid Rees noted.
