Miraculous fall: nine year old survives 35 ft crane plunge

ADELAIDE Sunday nine year old Desmond Allan Carpenter of Wadham Street Brompton fell 35 ft from a crane at Adelaide Cement Company's Birkenhead works. He survived with no bones broken after miraculously rising and asking for water shortly after the fall. He was taken to Adelaide Children's Hospital where doctors reported his condition satisfactory.

Meralings of Untionists called by Pirie Trades and Labor Council on Friday evening and Saturday morning heard from the Pirie Licensed Victuallers Association seeking cooperation for an application to the Prices Commission to increase beer and stout prices.
