Leonard Thompson roland, 42, a noted Harvard University scientist and inventor of motion picture coloring processes, was killed in a 200 ft fall on Mount Wilson while working with Navy submarine listening devices. He authored several scientific works and many papers.

A Saturday program at Victoria Park featured Matthew and Churinga with strong showings. IGA Meition placed second with 18s, Steel Guitar first at £615, Silver Arrow first at £247, and Ithuriel led Moray pone, Gracwin claiming first.

A car capsized near Victor Harbor after a tyre blowout killing J. A. W. Johnstone of South Plympton and injuring four others. Raymond Beauchamp a law clerk, Edward Beauchamp a solicitor, John Reade, and Richard Alexander, all sustained various injuries. The vehicle overturned after traveling at speed about six miles from Victor Harbor.
In Norwich Consistory Court Mr Davis on trial over alleged misconduct spanning four decades involving Rev Harald Davidson rector of St stiffkey. Barbera Harris, an 18 year old figure, features prominently as witnesses recount Davidson's interactions and a letter to the Bishop claiming a plot to force resignation. The hearing, which began in late March, remains unresolved.
