FT Ken Serra furieceman of Pirie was found guilty of assaulting his wife and was jailed for 12 months by Mr Justice Richards in the Adelaide Criminal Court. The judge noted Berry's assisting his wife shocked sensibilities and liquor did not mitigate the offence though he had not drank for months. Berry claimed wartime service and sought to reconcile.
Pirie Golf Club members played two sections on Saturday at Kingston Park. On No 1 tee F C Adams beat A J Chesson, McLeod, Mallyon, Daw, Skewes and Penny all won or led, while No 12 tee saw Rundell beat Wiseman by large margins and Bollmeyer and Wells posted decisive margins in their matches.
