Jo Cater Bestestester and passenger Kevin Johnson were slightly injured when an Atto Club Plane crashed soon after takeoff on Kangaroo Island yesterday afternoon. The aircraft nosedived from a short height, causing an estimated £400 damage.
Norman Field, 20, of the Victorian Aero Club, died in a Moth plane crash on his first solo flight. Witnesses include his parents and Reginald Marriott who watched the crash near Norris house as the aircraft struck a brick chimney, plunged into a garden, and burst into flames. Field had been learning aviation for 12 months and was to wave to neighbors before the fatal event.

Four miners died when a fire fight at Aberdare No 2 colliery Dinamore near Ipswich turned deadly. The men descended at about 3 pm to inspect a minor fire. A detonation followed by smoke and a mine cave led rescue teams with breathing gear to recover the charred bodies two hours later.

A man from Souin bourne named Deri Wilson fell between a moving train and the platform at Sunbury Station while attempting a jump as a Goode train passed. His brother Richard, who had just boarded, was injured as the wheels struck him. Wilson was taken to Melbourne Hospital in critical condition. The incident occurred during a failed search for work and a prior misreading of Sunbury’s regular stopping pattern.
