Fatal collapse at work ends life of W J Sprague in Pirie
William James Sprague age 37 of Mansom Street Pirie collapsed at Smelters Wharf while trimming, died within minutes despite first aid and a doctor. A long-time seaman and worker, he served in the Boer War era, was a foundation member of Pirie Tiou Quoits Club, and a life member of Solomontown A Grade Football Club. He leaves no family but is survived by two sisters. Remains were interred at Pirie Cemetery with services led by Rev G W Scholefield.
