A crowd of about a tenth of Pirie townsfolk moved out for Adelaide as two Exhibition excursion trains carried Pirie and Solomontown bands. A misstep caused a latecatch for some musicians, while the boys entertained towns along the route with marching tunes and war cries. Sydney man found decapitated near Croydon rail line

A porter alerted Night Officer Taylor, stopping the 6.52pm Wynyard bound train shortly before the body was discovered. Trains had passed the area at 6.37 and 6.46. Four men injured in Lachlan explosion off Gladstone
