A collision on Narridy Bridge involved multiple vehicles when a motorcycle stopped to aid a distressed motorist whose vehicle lights failed. The driver of the car, Thomas Michael Dempsey of Three Chain Road Nowtown, was following the motorcycle Jolio Carew Moody of Derrace jMisdon Park offered assistance to the tourist.
The body of James O Connor of Mildura was found in the River Murray near the township this morning. About £16 in money believed to be on the body was missing. Police think he was involved in a brawl and he had been reported missing since April.
General MacArthur told Senate committees over the weekend that only a few more ground troops and air reinforcements could force a decisive victory over Chinese Communists in Korea. He said Britain’s stance on Communist China and Formosa harmed U S interests and warned of potential grave consequences for the nation. Meanwhile Robert Humphries, 18, hurt aboard the steamer Iron Vamps near Newcastle on April 20, was reported improving after escaping serious internal injuries.
In a grueling Memorial Oval clash last year's finalists Solomontown beat Port by four goals.
