In Sydney on Monday James Leighton Massey and Aubrey Potter two motor mechanics were sentenced to death for the murder of Norman Samuel Stead the 26 year old manager of a Darlinghurst service station. Stead was shot on February 10 during a demand for money. Massey claimed Stead rushed and that a struggle with a safety catch release saved him, while Potter said he did not fire a shot and only took the weapon to scare Stead. Evidence included involvement of Adelaide Steamship Company official F Bridgman and Port Adelaide travel notes for Potter and his wife toward Melbourne.

He finished four laps ahead of R Heeve Fount, who drove a K3 Magnatic, aided teammate T Peters in the final stages. Only eight of 16 completed. Fagan’s time 3 h 6 min 5 sec. Heeve, 4 h 59 min 4 5 20.
A watch disappeared from the cabin of Mr K Johansson carpenter aboard the Swedish steamer Unden at Railways Wharf. Officers believe a stranger stole it while aboard. The watch was presented to the mine carpenter and valued highly, per yard officer Winall.
W A Rollison, o D D Rollison, and K A MacDonald of Rollison and Rollison solicitors in King William Street Adelaide were awarded damages of £200 each against Truth and Sportsmag Limited. Mr Justice Angus Parsons delivered judgment after a magistrate's comments on a prosecution were claimed to have received undue prominence in newspaper headings and a poster, forming the false impression in the case.
