Brisbane reports that the Australian Council of Trade Unions failed to resolve the Queensland railway dispute. Delegation leaders Motors, P. J. Clarey, M L.C., and R King will fly south tomorrow after noting no proposal satisfied the central air manager.

Big Coal Strike Averted Amid Conference Stalemate

NSW and Queensland miners held two hour talks with the central dispute committee. The committee reaffirmed resolve to continue the strike but no settlement was reached. Queensland miners voted to return to work, preventing a nationwide stoppage. NSW production topped 50,000 tons with only two northern mines idle, totaling a loss of 658 tons.

All Day Shoot At Crystal Brook Trophy To Hannett

Crystal Brook Rifle Club hosted an all day shoot across 200 500 600 and 700 yard ranges. G Hannett won the off rifle aggregate with 132 scoring a trophy presented by Mr Coventry. Second prize went to A Norton with 31 points and P Gadd received a special prize as eight shots and two fighters were fired per range.

Pirie X ray Survey Opens with Health Minister to Inaugurate

Pirie Board of Health announced the wide area X ray health survey opening by Health Minister A L McEwin at 11 am on an April date with examinations starting April 12. Residents within 25 miles of Pirie will be eligible. The survey, first outside the metropolitan area, will be conducted behind Pirie Hospital. Full details will appear in the Recorder. The aim is a 100 percent public response with cooperation from Trades and Labor Council, Chamber of Commerce, BHLAS, Sick and Accident Fund, and others. Medical figures at the opening include Dr A R Southwood and Dr J S Verco.

Harbors Board Officer To Advise On Beach Wall Repairs

A South Australian Harbors Board officer, E. H. Price, will visit Pirie to discuss repairing Solomontown Beach retaining wall. The board won't assume responsibility for damage from wall failure. that remains with the town council. The council granted no objection to Solomontown foreshore leases to Pirie Amateur Anglers and Spencer Gulf Fishermen’s Co operative. the latter was refused for now to reserve space for beautification. The council noted future policy will be shared with the board.
