Doctors concluded there was no infection in the shaving brush used by an anthrax victim. They emphasized the illness did not spread through grooming implements and highlighted the unusual source of exposure in the case.
Commonwealth health authorities in Port Pirie report no anthrax bacilli found in the shaving brush linked to Mr. G M Murphy who died on December 15 from suspected anthrax. A second brush showed no anthrax. tests on tissues and cultures identified no clear anthrax organism. Further investigation supported by Dr Keogh and Dr Johnston concluded the isolated organism did not prove B anthracis, with reports forwarded to the Local Board of Health.
Doctors at Adelaide Hospital refused to issue a death certificate for Charles Alexander Kerr a 60 year old North Terrace proprietor whose funeral was postponed and postmortem delayed until today Coroner Me Gly Coroner ordered an inquest for next Tuesday Kerr was a widower with one child aged 44.
