Ethelton youth edges rivals in a 50 yard long pirie swim while P Davidson claims victory in crawl over three women competitors.
P Davideon of Exhelson Swhewoing Club led the one mile 400 yd swim at Pirie, finishing about 50 seconds ahead of Pat Hutchinson. Hutchinson and Davies battled for top positions among a crowd near 3,000 as the event featured swimmers from Port Broughton, Port Augusta, Crystal Pool, and other clubs.
Twenty competitors were honored with trophies for top finishes including D Davidson Miss Pat Hutchinson and B Davies in various places. Fastest times led by J J Williams and J Terrett among others. Miss Pat Hutchinson featured in multiple high placements. The Great Northern Carnival details are on Page 4.

A Greek national man was found hanging by the neck in a bathroom of a Greek club at 3 Florence Street yesterday afternoon. A constable stayed at his bedside as plainclothes inquiries by J E Wehr and G Giles continued. his condition was reported not serious last night.
Two unidentified soldiers believed to have just returned from New Guinea were found dead on a roadside near a fence after a motorcycle crash. The pair, possibly after leaving Soldiers Memorial Hall, were struck near a converter station on the Victor Harbor road around 12:30 am. One man died instantly. the other suffered a broken pelvis and a broken arm.
