Adelaide reports a strong year for trade with total value £29,594,141 up 25,164,407 from the prior period. Imports rose to £12,700,874 while exports reached £16,899,770, increasing by £3,307,355, driven by grains, fruits, wine, wool and lead.
Adelaide Finlay Toho L lemer, an Adelal Jan figet, faces charge of false pretences over a land block sale. Hundreds of men may be affected by a labor dispute at Wallaroo in Adelaide over the appointment of tally clerks for the steamer Walmarind. London report says the German railways organization committee has drafted a law to hand the German State railways to a company under Allied control per the Dawes plan. The firm would be the world’s largest, with a staff of thousands, and a draft has been sent to the Reparations Commission for approval.
Empire Wireless reports Lulonel Childs joint managing director of the Wireless Telegraph Company of South Africa says beam tests between England and Australia and high speed tests between Poldhu and Cape Verde justify immediate construction of a new beam station near Glipheuvel by Capetown to communicate with England. The company will adopt the beam system if it meets the South African Wireless Act of 1923.
Ottawa reports arrangements between Britain and Canada to establish radio stations in Montreal and Vancouver as links in the wireless programme. The stations will use short wave beams owned by the Marconi Company with a guaranteed speed of 100 words a minute.
The Legislative Assembly debated and passed the Marriage Amendment Bill amid bitter opposition from Roman Catholic men and many Labor members. The government pushed the measure through the sitting until 5.00 am to counter the Ne Temere Decree and bar impugning the marriage tie.
