Wiley Post lands in New York after a 7 day 8 hour 50 minute nonstop flight beating the old record by 21 hours 1 minute. Recorder Special Cables report the event from New York on a Sunday night.
Alaska pilot Wiley Post reached Pairbanks at 10.22 am after a minor accident near Flat Point the previous day. He planned to fly 1,509 miles to Edmonton Canada at 5.45 pm, continuing his record attempt to circle the world.

Sydrey Sunday report details the deaths of a 48 year old servant girl and 25 year old William Haggett on a Inverell farm. Stanley seven and Maurice five were lost near Orbost for three days and nights in extreme cold. A 400 strong police led search found them near a creek as they planned shelter in a hollow log. They were dazed and thirsty but not severely hungry, and believed they would find their way home soon.
A crash involving a car driven by Mr. R. Glasson and a lorry occurred at the Florence and Alexander streets junction on a Saturday. Glasson sounded his horn for a crossing child who may not have heard it. the collision damaged the car rear but no injuries were reported.
At Crystal Brook Teesdale showgrounds yesterday W Croser's Clifton won the sheepdog trials with 92 points. Clifton Boy placed second with 76 and the bitch Woodlace third with 71. Other starters included Brownie, Jean, Bill, Reid's Bill, Mana, Lassie, and Jimmie. Weston Maiden Class Stakes went to Groser's Lynon with 74 and Kellock's Mana 72. Judge was Mr J McIntosh of Bedaloo Valley. Attendees reached about 400.
Members of the first aid class for unemployed youths are reminded of special sessions today at 10 a.m. and Friday morning for an exam Monday at 7 p.m. Conducted by Dr. L G Tassie. The boot repairing class will meet Mondays at 4 p.m. Tonight a basketball match at 7:30 between Pretz Ltd and YMCA.
A Mollison and Mrs Mollison with Miss Amy Johnson left Pendine Sands Wales in their monoplane Seafarer at noon to attempt a 34 hour Atlantic crossing to New York. They then aim for a single hop to Bagdad to set a new nonstop flight record.

An enthusiastic Solomontown congregation filled the church last night as the choir presented the cantata Building thy People under the baton of W. E. NyLaver. Solos by M. Harris N. Laube C. Laube D. White E. White, with quartets and duets by Blackwell Rooding Parsons Laurie and Thomas. D. Laver provided organ accompaniment. A large attendance, with Masonic judges in parade, closed with a proffered motto about fire’s essentials.

Funeral for James Ramsay, chairman of Pirie Hospital Board, held in Solomon Town, drew a large crowd. Rev Strange led the service with 63 cars in the cortege. Messages of sympathy and floral tributes flowed from many residents, organizations, and hospital staff connections.
