Kreig remembered as popular Broken Hill worker in Pirie

Sixteen years at Blas and twelve months after marriage the Kreig couple settled in Pirie to make a home. Mr Kreig served the silver lead industry with Broken Hill Associated Smelters for about 18 months off during the low mood, totaling roughly 180 years of service. A keen supporter of workmates, he organized fundraisings for the needy and helped BHLAS, Picnic and Sports Association, serving on its committee. He assisted in pre war Crystal Brook visits, was a staple at children’s sports, and was a lodge member for about 15 years. He left a wife and three daughters Betty, Duet, and Fay, with five boys listed. His popularity was reflected by the large crowd at the staveside in Pirie Cemetery with Rev. M. D. Giles officiating. bearers included W. Munn, F. Stigwaat, Solomentawa Football Club members, A.C. Byatt, ALTL Clinton, C. Prelwn, and Walker.
